Hello sunshine! Happy International Sunglasses Day

Hello sunshine! Happy International Sunglasses Day

In the last fortnight London Fields has become a Mediterranean resort, and we’ve been soaking up the rays and good vibes in Costa Del Hackney. What’s new at 64 Broadway Market?

Happy International Sunglasses Day to all those who celebrate AND those who are squinting their way through summer!

We think Iwona and Andrew look exceptionally cool in their shades, but did you know that wearing sunglasses too much has a negative impact on Vitamin D absorption?

The benefits of sunglasses are numerous: protection from harmful UV rays, a great asset for those who struggle with migraines and improved visibility (from not having to squint.) But with Vitamin D exposure being essential in the UK, you may like to have some sunglasses-free time too. Keeping them off until the sun is brightest around 11am and onwards may be a good rule of thumb – upping your exposure to morning sunlight hugely benefits cognition.

So go forth and look cool – but don’t skip your mood-boosting vitamins!

Keeping limber at every age

Our Instagram video from last week sparked some serious conversation!

Ever tried standing up from the floor without using your hands? It’s a surprisingly good indicator of physical health! This simple movement demands core strength, hip stability, and balance – all key for healthy aging.

This led to a great chat between our Osteopath Andrew and Lead Podiatrist Tracy about the importance of staying mobile and agile throughout life. Tracy, a big barefoot advocate, reminded us that ditching your shoes this summer significantly develops proprioception. That’s your body’s “sixth sense” of where it is in space, refining movement and vital balance skills that can help prevent falls as you age.

If you’re feeling a bit stiff or off-balance, Andrew is here to help get your body back in harmony with Osteopathy.

Cheaper than a holiday:

Come down with a bad case of FOMO from seeing everybody else’s summer holiday photos?

We’ve got you covered. Book a Massage or Acupuncture session and you’ll leave feeling as rested as you would having just spent 2 weeks by the beach!

Or snap up one of Tracy’s last Vitamin B12 injections before her summer break. Receiving adequate levels of Vitamin B12 can have a significant impact on your overall well-being – with improvements including deeper sleep, improved gut health, better mood, reduced anxiety and less brain fog. Cheaper than a holiday with the same effects!
